Loving Our Wedding Anniversary

Monday was our 2nd Wedding Anniversary, yay! Unfortunately Hubby had to work so we decided to celebrate on Sunday. We headed down the south coast to reminisce about our big day.

Back in November 2008, Hubby proposed on the beach at Wollongong. With the area having such a special memory for us, we decided to get married at the Mt Keira Lookout, which has a stunning view over Wollongong and the coastline. It was just a small wedding, I think we had about 58 guests, including some family and friends from NZ. It was an outdoor ceremony and the weather was stunning (rather lucky considering we didn't have a 'wet-weather' alternative). We of course had a few hiccups here & there - I left one of my bridesmaid's shoes back home, the minister mixed up our vows and pronounced my name wrong, the DJ played mostly his own music instead of the cd of our fav songs which we'd given him earlier. But it was simply the best day ever!!

I loved the flowers & our cake! I'm really pleased that we had a small number of guests. It meant that we could get round to talk to everyone and not miss out on catching up with anyone. I loved my little group of Kiwis being there to share our day with us. The location was perfect too, we were able to have the ceremony overlooking the coast then move inside to the restaurant for the reception and still have the lights of Wollongong to admire during the evening.

So anyway, on Sunday we decided to revisit Mt Keira for a picnic lunch. Despite the sun being out it was much cooler than 2yrs ago! Morgan had decided not to sleep during the drive down so it ended up being a brief picnic as he was starting to get cranky. He then fell asleep during the short trip down to Wollongong, so we drove around for half an hour til he woke up! We parked the car near the sports stadium then walked along the waterfront, found a spot on the beach and got Morgan out of the pram for a play in the sand. He loved wading in the water, even though it was freezing! Our play in the sand was cut short when the clouds came out so we headed back to the car. Once again, Morgan chose not to sleep on the way home, but made up for it the next day with a 3hr nap.

Hubby then surprised me with a lovely bunch of flowers and a romantic card when he got home from work on Monday. He's so sweet! It was a wonderful day. Wollongong has so many happy memories for us, just being there put a smile on my face. I definitely think it may have to be a tradition to head back there to celebrate our anniversary each year.
